Each law below illustrates an aspect of her struggle: non‑violent resistance, memory, judicial testimony and sacrifice for truth.

50/50 laws embodied – a voice silenced by dictatorship, made eternal by memory.

Fundamental laws: the strategic DNA of Rose Lokissim

Law #23 – Resist with the spirit (torture without weakness)

100% embodiment

Arrested in 1984 for her activities in the resistance movement of the National Front for the Liberation of Chad (FROLINAT), Rose Lokissim was tortured in the basements of the “Piscine” prison in Ndjamena. She gave no names. She was sentenced to death in 1985.

Law #22 – Choose your death

She refused any collaboration with Hissène Habré’s regime. On 21 April 1986, she was hanged with five comrades. Her death became a symbol of resistance.

Law #49 – Your legacy is your final act of power

Thirty years after her death, her name was cited during the trial of Hissène Habré before the Extraordinary African Chambers (2016). She became a martyr of justice, a symbol of the fight against impunity in Africa.

Law #32 – Let the idea outlive the man

Human rights associations, schools and streets bear her name in Chad. She is inscribed in the Pantheon of African resisters.

Law #49 – Your legacy is your final act of power: In 2016, former dictator Hissène Habré was sentenced to life imprisonment. Rose Lokissim is one of the victims cited in the judgment. Her memory has become a beacon for human rights defenders in Africa.

Law #37 – Cultivate organised mystery

Few personal documents of Rose survive. Most of Habré’s regime archives were destroyed or are still being sorted. This forced silence has turned her into a mystical figure of resistance, reclaimed by transitional justice movements.
